We would like to invite Webelos scouts to come visit us at one of our upcoming Jan 2016 troop meetings. In particular we invite you to one or both of the following two meetings, as we prepare for our winter Klondike Derby: 1) Thursday January 7th 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM -- Topic: Primitive Fire Building 2) Thursday January 14th 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM -- Topic: Wilderness First Aid.
We meet at the United Methodist Church in Graniteville (10 Church St.) in the lower level gathering hall.
Additionally we would like to invite the Webelos to the annual district Klondike Derby event on Saturday January 30th. This year we are lucky to have the Klondike Derby right here in town at the Stonybrook Conservation Land (Formerly East Boston Camps). The Klondike Derby is a day long outdoor scout skills competition and demonstration. In the Derby, Boy Scout Patrols take a dog sled, pack it with gear and pull it around course of stations. At each station they are asked to demonstrate some skill by solving a problem or playing a game.
We would like to invite any Webelos Scout to join one of our three sleds as our guest and work with our Boy Scouts to adventure through the winter landscape and learn new skills!
We will give more details as we get closer, but the event is most of the day on Saturday January 30th (about 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM). We would like boys who plan to join the Derby to try to come to one of the meeting mentioned above, or to at least let us know by email if they plan to attend.
